Today we reflect. Not in anger, but in grief. Grief for a nation that claims Christ while embracing everything he warned us about. The MAGA movement, draped in crosses and flags, claims to follow Jesus—but the fruit it bears tells another story.
Reflection:
Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor.” MAGA blesses the billionaires.
Jesus fed the hungry and healed the sick. MAGA cuts food stamps and healthcare.
Jesus taught to “turn the other cheek.” MAGA says, “Stand your ground and shoot.”
Jesus welcomed the stranger. MAGA cages migrants, deports the desperate, and builds walls of cruelty.
Jesus flipped the tables of the money changers. MAGA bows to corporate donors, tax shelters, and lobbyists.
Jesus warned against pride, greed, and the lust for power. MAGA calls these virtues and elects them to lead.
Jesus said “the truth will set you free.” MAGA says “truth is fake news” if it exposes the cult.
Jesus walked with the outcasts. MAGA scapegoats them.
Jesus was lynched by the state and religious leaders for challenging the empire. MAGA praises the empire and demands obedience from the church.
Jesus taught humility, compassion, and forgiveness. MAGA preaches vengeance, dominance, and submission.
And yet, the movement dares to wear his name. To claim his cross while mocking his message. This is not Christianity—it is empire wrapped in religion.
Insight:
True Christianity is not about flags, slogans, or power. It’s about love—radical, inconvenient, uncomfortable love. It’s about caring for the least of these. About truth over propaganda, justice over politics, humility over hubris.
MAGA offers the opposite: it sells the illusion of salvation through strength, purity through exclusion, and truth through authoritarianism. It weaponizes Christianity to serve empire, not spirit.
But Christ never served empire. He was killed by it.

Gnosis begins with honesty. And if we’re honest, we must ask:
If Jesus walked into a MAGA rally… would they follow him, or crucify him again?
