Wednesday Wisdom Series: The Hidden Kingdom โ What Jesus Meant in Thomas.
๐ Lesson Focus:
Jesus begins the Gospel of Thomas with a challenge: โWhoever finds the meaning of these words will not taste death.โ This first session sets the tone for the entire series: salvation is found not in belief, but in personal discovery. Our journey begins with inner seeking, mystical recognition, and awakening to our true origin.

โจ Saying 1
โWhoever finds the meaning of these words will not taste death.โ
๐น Commentary: This saying frames the entire Gospel as a riddle or key. Spiritual awakening leads to eternal lifeโnot after death, but now. โNot tasting deathโ means transcending spiritual ignorance.
โจ Saying 2
โLet the one who seeks not stop seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will be disturbed. When he is disturbed, he will marvel, and he will reign over all.โ
๐น Commentary: The path of awakening moves through discomfort. Disturbance precedes transformation. This is the sacred process of deconstruction and rebirth.
โจ Saying 3
โThe kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, you will become knownโฆโ
๐น Commentary: The divine is not distant or hiddenโit is woven into your being. True gnosis (knowledge) is remembering your divine identity.
โจ Saying 4
โThe old man will not hesitate to ask a little child seven days old about the place of lifeโฆโ
๐น Commentary: Spiritual greatness is not tied to age or learning. Childlike innocence and openness are the key to the โplace of lifeโโthe source.
โจ Saying 5
โRecognize what is in your sight, and what is hidden from you will be revealedโฆโ
๐น Commentary: You already hold the clues. Awakening doesnโt come from new truthsโit comes from seeing whatโs already here in a new way.
๐ฟ Cannabis Ritual: Silence + Breath
Purpose: To prepare the body and mind for sacred perception.
Instructions:
- Choose your sacrament (joint, edible, tincture, tea).
- Inhale or consume slowly and with reverence.
- Sit in silence for 5โ10 minutes with eyes closed.
- Focus only on your breath and the phrase: โWhat do I already knowโbut havenโt yet remembered?โ
- Journal anything that arises.
Optional Enhancement: Burn frankincense or sandalwood during meditation.
๐ง Journaling / Discussion Prompts
- What does โnot tasting deathโ mean to me, beyond the literal?
- Have I ever been spiritually โdisturbedโ in a way that opened me?
- Where have I been seeking the divine outside myself?
- What might I be overlooking thatโs right in front of me?
๐ Affirmation of the Week
โThe truth is within me, and I am ready to remember.โ
Say this aloud at the end of your ritual. Write it in your journal. Make it your mantra this week.
